Lions get first win of 2005 in 5-2 effort over Claremont.
March 6, 2005
Los Angeles, Calif. - Loyola Marymount men's tennis hung on for a 5-2 win over Claremont Saturday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Center.
"These are the types of matches we should win more handily," LMU Head Coach Nik DeVore said. "You can't underestimate teams like this, otherwise the match ends up closer than it should be, and you risk an upset possibility. We won the match, which is a positive, but we didn't really gain more confidence as a team by winning in this fashion. We have rebounded well in the past after performances like this - hopefully that pattern will continue."
The Lions' schedule gets more difficult as the season continues, including home matches this week against Boston University, the University of Pennsylvania, Gonzaga, and Yale.
The win marked the first victory of 2005 for the Lions.
