After another loss against Stetson, the LMU men's tennis team is now 0-10.
March 7, 2013
RANCHO PALOS VEREDS, Calif. -- It was another match, another loss for LMU (0-10) men's tennis as the Lions lost 5-2 to Stetson (6-0) at a neutral site Thursday afternoon. The Lions drop to 0-10 on the 2013 season and remain desperate for that first team win.
In the doubles round, LMU took one of three but had to fight until the end to get the win that would end up meaningless as Stetson would get the point with two wins. The lone LMU win came on Court 1, where Sebastian Bustamante and Todd Volmari defeated the duo from Stetson 8-7. But the losses on the other two courts would prove to be a deciding factor in the end as the Lions lost 5-2.
The Lions looked better in the singles round as LMU was able to win on two of the six courts. Getting the big win for the Lions was Othar Kordsachia, who won 6-3, 6-1 on Court 1 and finished his match first. Also winning for the Lions today was Felix Van Kann, who defeated his Stetson opponent 7-5, 3-6, 2-1 (retired).
But in the end, the Lions would come up just short as they lost on the other four courts. Thursday's defeated marks the tenth consecutive loss for the Lions to start the season. For Stetson, the team moves to a 6-0 undefeated record. LMU will continue looking for its first team victory when they take on UC Riverside Saturday.
