Final Stats

Los Angeles, Calif. - The Loyola Marymount men's tennis team posted a 5-2 victory over Utah, Friday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Center. The Lions won five of the six singles matches, after dropping the doubles point to move to 10-8 in dual action this spring.

"Once again we struggled in the doubles, but fortunately, as we did against Portland and Yale, we picked up straight set victories from some of our veterans to put us back on top," LMU head coach Nik DeVore said. "It's good to see that losing the doubles point doesn't deter us, but we can't continue to lose the doubles point if we are going to beat the good teams that we will be facing in the future."

Tigran Martirosyan, Leopold Graeubig, Anthony Evrard and Johannes Asuja also posted straight set victories for the Lions, while Michael Wojnarowicz took three sets for his win.

"Evrard really impressed me today," DeVore said. "Anthony has been playing injured for the past couple of weeks, but he really fought hard for his victory today. I think that seeing him fighting so hard really inspired the rest of the guys."

The Lions will next be in action when they host West Coast Conference rival Santa Clara next Saturday. The Lions are 1-1 this year in the WCC.
