SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The LMU men's tennis team came up just short at Santa Clara on Friday, falling 4-3 to the Broncos, dropping to 2-14 on the year and 0-2 in WCC Play. Santa Clara improves to 13-6 overall and 1-6 in conference.

The Lions got off to a good start Friday afternoon with a win in the doubles round. On Court 1, Othar Kordsachia and Felix Van Kann won a tight 9-8 match over Santa Clara's top duo. Since the two have started playing together, the pair has not lost, winning four matches and having two go unfinished. LMU also won on Court 3, as Daniel Simko and Jack Zapala got the 8-4 victory. LMU's Nicholas Bjerke and Sebastian Bustamante were leading on Court 2 as well, but the match would go unfinished after the Lions had clinched the doubles point.

In singles, Santa Clara would take the match on the top courts as the Broncos won on Courts 1-4. The Lions won the first set on Courts 1, 2, and 4 but could not hold on as the home team would prevail. LMU did win two singles matches, however. On Court 5, Cristobal Rivera came from behind to win 3-6, 6-1, 6-2. And on Court 6, van Kann won for the fifth time in his previous seven matches, getting the 6-4, 6-4 victory. This would result in the 4-3 finish on courts where Santa Clara is now 10-2.

The Lions will be back in action at San Francisco tomorrow.
