No. 13 Pepperdine Sweeps Lions, 6-0

Malibu, Calif. - Due to rain in the forecast, only the singles matches were played Wednesday afternoon as the Loyola Marymount men's tennis team faced WCC rival, 13th-ranked Pepperdine at the Ralphs-Strauss Tennis Center. The Waves (12-6) had no trouble with the Lions (7-11) as they swept the match, 6-0. Sixth- ranked Andre Begemann defeated Jacek Twarowski (6-3, 6-1) in No. 1 singles, Ivan Lopez lost to No. 21 Bassam Beidas at the No. 2 slot (6-2, 6-3), and Mahmoud Kamel finished first in No. 3 singles with a sweep over Sam Tadevosian (6-0, 6-0). In the bottom half of the singles line-up, Johan Berhof lost at the No. 4 spot to Rickus de Villiers (6-1, 6-1), Alex Moreno defeated Aris Andreasian at the No. 5 position (6-3, 6-1), and Dmitry Popov played in his first match of the season, losing to Brian Brogan (6-1, 6-0). Next up, the Lions host 66th-ranked UC Irvine Wednesday, April 9 at 1:30 p.m. at the LMU Tennis Center. Singles
