Los Angeles, Calif. -- The LMU men’s tennis team will continue their nonconference campaign this Saturday when they play at UC Santa Barbara. The Lions opened the season on the road last weekend, when they won at Sacramento St. and at UC Davis.

First year head coach Tom Lloyd has his team right where he wants them at 2-0. The 2013 Lion squad lost their opening 10 dual matches, making this year’s hot start something to be excited about.

One of those early setbacks last season came at UC Santa Barbara. The two teams squared off exactly a year before they will this season, a match the Gouchos won 6-1.

The Lions have been strong in doubles play during the young season. LMU has yet to lose a match in doubles play, a stat key to their team success. Standing out for singles play has been junior Felix Van Kann, who has won his singles match on Court 2 in both of the first two matches.

LMU will have its first home match a week from Saturday when they host Grand Canyon University on February 15.
