Terrien Named WCC Player of the Month
May 4, 2004 San Bruno, Calif. - Loyola Marymount freshman Nico Terrien has been tabbed as the West Coast Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Month for April, the WCC announced today. Terrien's performance helped the Lions equal LMU men's tennis' highest WCC finish in program history, finishing third at the conference championships on April 25. Terrien, the WCC Freshman of the Year, finished the month of April with a perfect 7-0 mark at the No. 2 singles slot, including wins over Saint Mary's, UC Riverside, Idaho, Portland, San Francisco, and Santa Clara. The Nantes, France native finished the season 27-8 overall, and 17-0 at No. 2 singles en route to earning first-team All-WCC honors at this season's WCC Championships. The April Player of the Month selection is the first for LMU men's tennis this season. Former Lion Tigran Martirosyan earned the February honor in 2003 for LMU. Terrien led the Lions to their first national team ranking in program history this season, checking in at No. 75 in the ITA rankings on March 16.
