LOS ANGELES, Calif. - This past weekend on the Loyola Marymount University campus was the 2011 Graduation Ceremonies, as the Class of 2011 went from the status of student to that of alumni. For LMU Athletics, it's a moment to celebrate a class that put up some historical achievements and they aren't quite finished yet.

All told 72 student-athletes earned their degree this past May 7, making the traditional walk in front of more than 15,000 in LMU's Sunken Garden.

The Class of 2011 leaves with some impressive moments in LMU history. The senior class for men's water polo won a conference title and a trip to the NCAA tournament all four years, joining the women's water polo Class of 2005 as the only class in school history to earn such an achievement.

Among that class was Tibor Forai and Andy Stevens. They became the first student-athletes in LMU history to earn All-American honors all four years of competition. As for Forai, he earned the rare honor of an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship as he continues his education into dentistry.

Stevens, along with men's soccer All-American Rafael Baca earned back-to-back LMU Male Co-Ahtlete of the Year honors. They both earned the honor a year ago and join Brian Locke (men's golf) as the only male athletes to earn the honor in back-to-back years. Stevens was a second-team All-American in 2010, while Baca was a third-team selection in helping the Lions to their first conference title.

Tara Erdmann was named Female Athlete of the Year, and for good reason. After winning the WCC Cross Country Individual title for the second time and earning All-American honors at the NCAA Championships, she went onto earn All-America honors in indoor track. Combined with the All-America honor she earned last spring in Outdoor Track, Erdmann became the first athlete to earn All-America honors in three different sports.

She isn't finished as she holds the fastest time in 10K this season and is already in the NCAA Regionals this May.

Also still going is baseball and softball. The baseball team still has three key conference series, two at home to close out May.

As for softball, they will be playing in the 2011 PCSC Softball Championships this Friday and Saturday at Portland State. The senior class of Amu Charpentier, Jennifer Nayudu and Priscilla Satete will look to help the Lions earn their fourth conference title since 2003.
