Following a season in which it went 12-10 and earned a spot in the West Coast Conference Championship tournament, the LMU men's tennis team was tabbed the #67 team in the nation according to the final Oracle/ITA Men's Tennis rankings.

LMU, which got off to a slow start this year by opening the season at 0-4, caught fire in the middle of the season, rattling off nine victories in 11 matches, including defeating ranked opponents in Utah State, UC Santa Barbara and Pacific. For its efforts, LMU earned the highest ranking in program history on April 5, checking in at #58 in the nation.

Prior to the WCC Championship Tournament, Cristobal Rivera and Errol Smith both earned spots on the second team All-WCC singles squad, while Rivera teamed with Charles Boyce to earn second team doubles honors. In addition to his All-WCC honors, Rivera was also tabbed ITA Southwest Region Most Improved Player after going 20-13 overall in singles play, including 10-9 in dual matches. The native of Santa Monica, Calif. was 5-2 in WCC play, and recorded three decisions at #1 singles and nine at #2 singles.

"While we had our ups and downs this year, I am very proud for the progress this team and program has made," head coach Tom Lloyd said. "I am excited for the guys and Loyola Marymount University, with finishing the year ranked for the first time in school history. As much as it is a great accomplishment, we are not satisfied and very much anticipating the start of the new season."
