Following one of the best seasons in program history, LMU men's tennis sports the #6 ranking in the Southwest Region according to the most recent Oracle/ITA listing. The Lions were also tabbed with the #55 ranking in the final ITA Team rankings of the year. The #55 mark is the best end-of-year ranking in program history.

The Lions finished 2017-18 with a 19-6 overall record and a 7-2 mark in the WCC to earn a share of second place in the WCC standings. LMU’s 19 wins are the most since setting a program-record with 20 in 2002. Playing as the third seed in the WCC Championship Tournament, LMU advanced to its first WCC Championship Match, eventually dropping the decision to top-seed San Diego. At the conclusion of LMU’s seasons, fifth-year head coach Tom Lloyd was named the Wilson/ITA Southwest Coach of the Year.
Smith finished the year 15-6 while competing at #3 and #4 in the order. Smith went 5-3 in WCC play, posted a 9-4 mark at #3, and compiled a 6-2 record while playing at the fourth spot.
Borchenko, an honorable mention All-WCC player in singles, posted a 20-5 overall record in singles, including a 16-1 mark in dual matches. He went 5-0 in WCC play, 11-1 at #5, and 5-0 at #6 in the order, and won his last 16 decisions overall.
