Competing in the 2018 ITA Summer Circuit Tournament hosted at Chapman University over the weekend, LMU’s Ethan Prost captured the tournament title after defeating Fernando Fonseca, 7-6 (5), 6-4.

“This is all Ethan,” head coach Tom Lloyd said. “There is no question that this is a direct correlation to his work ethic and commitment. We as team were not happy with the end result in the WCC tournament, and Ethan has helped set the tone for the new year.”

Prost, who completed his freshman campaign in 2017-18, played five total matches en route to capturing the title, beginning his run with a 7-5, 6-3 triumph over Max Hoffman in the round of 32. The round of 16 saw the native of Peoria, Ariz. take down Daniel Traxler, 7-6 (3), 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals where he dispatched Jed Kronenberg, 7-6 (4), 6-4.

Now playing in the semifinal round, Prost knocked off Gavin Spencer in a hard-fought match, 4-6, 6-2, 10-7, sealing a spot in the Championship.

Prost finished his freshman campaign with a 7-6 overall singles record and a 6-5 mark in the doubles – including going 2-1 in doubles dual matches.
