Men's Tennis Heads to SDSU Invitational

Cristobal Rivera is one of four Lions in action this weekend.

The LMU men's tennis team is taking four players to San Diego St. this weekend for the annual SDSU Fall Invitational at the Aztec Tennis Center. The tournament consists of singles and doubles play and will run from Friday October 4 through Sunday October 6.

In addition to LMU, the teams competing at the invitational this weekend include host SDSU, Grand Canyon University, UC San Diego, UCLA, USC, UC Irvine, University of Pacific, University of San Diego, and Arizona. First year LMU Head Coach Tom Lloyd is hoping for a strong performance from his new team with his former Arizona team in attendance.

For the Lions, sophomore transfer David Doehring will be competing in the first flight for singles competition. Sophomore Cristobal Rivera will be playing the second flight for singles, and senior Daniel Simko will be in the third flight for singles.

In the doubles draw, junior Felix Van Kann will be playing alongside Simko. Doehring and Rivera will be paired together, rounding out the group of Lions in play this weekend.
