Lions will return to Irvine for the third time this fall, this time for the ITA Regional Tournament.
Oct. 18, 2012
LOS ANGELES -- The men's tennis team will be back in action this week for the annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) regional tournaments. LMU will be competing in the Southwest regional, which will be played in Irvine, Calif.
Two weeks ago, the Lions sent seniors Jack Zapala and Nick Northcott, junior Daniel Simko, and sophomore Othar Kordsachia to participate in the ITA Pre-Regionals that were also hosted by UC Irvine. This group's success in singles (5-3) and doubles (5-1) will hopefully be an indicator of what is to come this week.
LMU has been competing in many futures tournaments this fall, which have consisted of both current and former collegiate tennis players from around the world. However the Southwest regional will feature talent from local teams only and will preview some of the matchups to come in the spring schedule.
The Lions will be competing in the singles and doubles draws, which will be underway starting Friday, Oct. 19.
