Shaun Flood, a four-time letter winner for the LMU men's water polo program and winner of three conference championships, returned home when he was hired as the assistant coach for both the men's and women's water polo program in July of 2014.
Flood, who played in 102 career games for the Lions with 56 goals, graduated LMU in 2008 with a Bachelor's of Science in Biology. He was a part of three Western Water Polo Association Championships, winning the WWPA title in 2004, 2005 and 2007 as a senior. The title in 2007 was the first of four straight, the only men's program in LMU history to win four consecutive titles.
He began coaching in 2011 with Whittier College as an assistant, leading the men's program to the 2013 SCIAC Championship and a trip to the NCAA Championships, both the first ever for the program at Whittier. He was an assistant for both the men's and women's programs. He also coached the swim program, serving as head coach in 2013.
Following graduation, Flood, a dual citizen in the United States and Canada, played two years with the Canadian National Team (2009 and 2010).
Flood was also the head coach of the Foothill Water Polo Club and an assistant coach for the U.S. Olympic Development program.
