Briefly... Daniel Smith played four seasons of collegiate water polo at LMU... won a conference title all four years at LMU... played in 102 games...
Honors... was named honorable mention All-WWPA in 2010...
Highlights At LMU... 2010... earned his first All-WWPA honor at the end of his senior season in which he played all 29 games at two-meter... one of the all-time leaders in kick-outs drawn with 145 in his career, including a team-best 65 this season... he has scored 20 goals in 39 attempts, adding 14 steals, 16 field blocks and three assists... he scored a goal in every game of the WWPA tournament and was key in big wins this season, scoring two goals in wins over Pepperdine, UC San Diego and Santa Clara... in al three of those wins he also drew a season-high five kickouts in each contest...2009... was big for the Lions at two-meter in his third season... led the team with 65 kickouts drawn, scoring a career-best 21 goals with seven steals in the process, shattering his previous high of four in 2008... seemed to score in bunches on the season, netting three goals against Air Force to start the season, three more against USC (Sept. 6) and then four to lead the team in the first round of the WWPAs against Chapman... had a career-best seven kickouts drawn against Santa Clara... 2008... played in 27 games and scored four goals with 15 kickouts drawn... added eight field blocks... 2007... played in 18 games as a true freshman... scored two goals on 10 attempts... had three assists and three steals...
Prior to LMU... graduated from Thousand Oaks HS in 2007 with a 3.7 GPA... Smith was a two-time National Age Group All-American while also being a National Cadet and Youth Team Member on Wave FPC... was a three-time All-Marmonte League selection and a three-time All-American... scored 42 goals with 50 assists and 97 steals as a senior... won The Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation award...
Personal... Daniel Jason Smith was born in Santa Monica, Calif., and is the son of Frances and Robert Smith... father played baseball in college... he has two brothers... volunteered as a teacher's aid at the Chime Infant Toddler Program for children with special needs... a Natural Science major.
