LOS ANGELES - LMU men's water polo made their first appearance at home on Friday, taking on sixth-ranked UC Santa Barbara at the Burns Aquatics Center. The Gauchos used a 5-1 run in the middle of the game to pull away from the 19th-ranked Lions, helping them to a 13-7 win.

The Lions (1-3) were led by Cory McGee with two goals while the Gauchos (3-0) had 10 players score the 13 goals.

Freshman Matt Braun scored with 4:25 to play in the first half to cut the UCSB lead to 4-3. Back-to-back goals by the Gauchos made it 6-3 before LMU goalie Dominick Beading lobbed a shot full tank over the UCSB goalie to cut the lead to 6-4 at the break.

UCSB then scored three straight to start the second half to make it 9-4. Jon Beck finally ended the UCSB run.

LMU will travel to Whittier for a pair of game on Saturday. They will take on Occidental at 12 noon and then host Whittier at 3 pm.
