Grueling Tourney Wears Down Lions

Los Angeles, CA -- Playing in their fourth game in two days during one of the toughest tournament's in the country caught up with the Loyola Marymount University men's water polo team, who fell to No. 12 Navy, 14-3 in the final game of the Southern Cal Tournament late Sunday night. The LMU-Navy match was the 23rd of 24 matches of the two-day tournament. The Lions (3-5) found no offensive answer to Navy, who built a 8-1 lead by halftime and then a 14-1 lead through three periods. Of the eight games by the Lions this season, six have come against opponents in the top-12 nationally. In addition, they have played those eight games in eight days. The Lions will get a rest, not playing again until Sept. 26 when they travel to No. 9 Long Beach State. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
