SAN DIEGO, Calif. – In the second meeting of the season, UC San Diego topped Loyola Marymount, 15-5. The two teams have one more scheduled match this season, with that one counting in the WWPA standings.

LMU never led on Wednesday, and were led by three goals from sophomore Matt Braun. After Braun tied things at 1-1 in the first, UCSD went ahead 3-1 before Edward Moss converted a power play goal off the assist from Austin Clark.

The Tritons then scored the game’s next three goals before Braun scored his second and made it a 6-3 game. A 5-0 San Diego run was snapped in the third quarter with Alessio Brunochelli’s goal with 22 seconds remaining in the period.

Neil LeVecke, Joseph Shaw, and Davis Waugh all recorded assists as well.

The Lions return to Burns Aquatic Center on Saturday for a home game against Whittier. The 4 p.m. match will be followed by the presentation of the Kyle Testman Scholarship.
