Los Angeles, CA -- The No. 11 Lions defeated the Pomona Sagehens 17-4 Saturday afternoon at the Burns Aquatics Complex to complete the second game of their doubleheader, led by Patrick Reilly's three goals.

The Lions started the game aggressively, as goals came from each player of the Lions' starting lineup (Kyle Witt, Scott Smith, Kevin Witt, Patrick Reilly Tamas Szego, and Stephen Lipinski). Only a single Sagehen was able to find the back of the net in the first half, Luis Lopez.

Head Coach, John Loughran, played his reserve players for the rest of the game. Patrick Treanor defended the goal for the Lions, allowing only three goals on the game, and collecting four saves.

Kyle and Kevin Witt were both successful on their second goals, and Lipinski found the open goal twice before the end of the second half. Adam Zintsmaster was also able to get off two goals in the second quarter to give the Lions a 12-1 halftime lead.

Benjamin Speicher took the scoring initiative in the early part of the second half with his two third-quarter goals. Speicher also scored for Pomona in the fourth quarter, leading the Sagehens with his three goals.

Sean Wimer and Reilly took the Lions to a 16-4 lead, as the Loughran brought Paulsen back into the game as he scored the final goal of the afternoon with 21 seconds remaining on the clock. Paulsen took two more shots at the goal in the final ten seconds- one blocked and the other just catching the crossbar.
