Lions Cruise in Tourney Opener

CLAREMONT, Calif. - LMU men’s water polo posted their fourth straight victory on Saturday, earning a 19-8 win over La Verne in the first of two games at the Gary Troyer Memorial Tournament at Claremont, Calif.

Alex Athimaritis led the Lions with five goals, two assists and three steals on the day. The Lions improve to 6-7 on the season. Jon Beck added three goals, as did Daniel Arellano and Dayne Jagga. Arellano also added to his league leading assist total, earning three. <> Eric Retimeir continued his all-around solid play for the Lions with two goals, an assist and three steals. Adding to the Lions defense was 11 saves by Dominick Beaudine.

The Lions complete the tournament at Pomona-Pitzer tonight at 6:30 pm.
