Men's Water Polo Falls to UC San Diego

San Diego, CA (Oct. 11, 2002) -- The eighth-ranked Loyola Marymount University men's water polo team fell to 11th-ranked UC San Diego 6-3 on Friday evening thanks to the Triton's Jonathan Hopkins, who scored three second-half goals for their second win over the Lions this season.

Hopkins, the Triton's leading scorer with 50 on the season, scored three goals in the third and fourth periods to extend UCSD's 2-1 halftime lead to 5-1. The Lions, who scored the first goal of the game, saw the Tritons score five unanswered to improve to 14-8 on the season. The Lions fall to 8-9 on the season.

LMU got a goal apiece from freshman Endre Rex-Kiss, senior Eric Lefebvre and senior Tim Roscke. It was the second loss of the season to the Triton's, who defeated LMU at Canyonview Pool in the third game of the season, 6-4.

The Lions will travel to second-ranked UCLA on Sunday, Oct. 13. The game will start at 12:00 p.m.
