Lions Earn WWPA Win

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The 10th-ranked LMU men's water polo team earned an 8-6 win over 16th-ranked Pomona-Pitzer in Western Water Polo Association action on Thursday afternoon at the Burns Aquatics Center. The Lions improve to 9-7 on the season and 7-1 in the WWPA. The Lions scored the games first four goals and held on for the two-goal victory. Senior Ikaika Aki and junior Albert Samuels each scored a pair of goals while the Lions defense limited Pomona to just two first quarter shots and posted a first half shutout in the process. Pomona-Pitzer falls to 8-9 overall and 3-4 in the WWPA. Ben Hadley led all scorers with three goals, including a pair in the fourth quarter. The Lions will host Air Force and Chapman on Saturday, Oct. 16 in a doubleheader. They will face the Falcons at 9 a.m., followed by Chapman at 12:30 p.m.
