Key Conference Road Win
Water polo earns key road win over Air Force, 10-7, in Colorado.

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - The 13th-ranked LMU men's water polo team earned a key 10-7 road win over No. 17 Air Force in Western Water Polo Association action on Friday night at the Air Force Academy in Colorado. It was the Lions final road game of the season as they close the regular season with six straight home games.
The Lions improve to 10-6 on the season and 7-1 in the WWPA as they broke open a 3-1 halftime lead with a six-goal third quarter. Freshman Joe Ferretti and senior Edgaras Asajavicius scored four goals each, including five of the Lions six goals in the third quarter.
The teams traded goals in the second quarter to send the Lions up 3-1 at the half.
Air Force would score the first goal of the second half on a 6-on-5 to cut the lead 3-2 with 6:46 to play in the third quarter. Asajavicius would then score back-to-back goals to build the lead to 5-2.
After the Falcons scored, the Lions would score three unanswered goals - a pair by Ferretti and one from Charlie Horton - to take an 8-3 lead with 3:59 to play. The teams would trade goals in the final three minutes, including Ferretti's third with 2:06 to play to make it 9-4.
The Lions defense then fought off a 6-on-4 to end the third quarter and a 6-on-5 to start the fourth. The Falcons would cut the lead to 9-5 less than two minutes into the final frame.
However, Testman and the Lions' defense would continue to make the going tough for Air Force as the game would go scoreless for the the next five minutes. Ferretti broke the dought with 1:06 to play to make it 10-5. Air Force scored two goals in the final 47 seconds, including a five-meter penalty shot.
The Lions return home to with the fourth meeting against rival and ninth-ranked UC San Diego on Friday, Oct. 21 at 3 p.m. The game is part of TeamLMU's MADNESS Friday. For more, click on MADNESS on LMULions.com.
