Water Polo Splits Pair in WWPA Play
No. 7 Lions fall to No. 16 Santa Clara and defeat UC Santa Cruz at Davis on Saturday.

Davis, CA (Oct. 21) - The Loyola Marymount University men's water polo team split a pair of Western Water Polo Association contests at UC Davis on Saturday. The Lions were upset by No. 16 Santa Clara 9-6 in the morning and then rebounded for a 12-2 win over UC Santa Cruz in the afternoon.
The Lions move their record to 13-8 on the season overall and 5-4 in WWPA play with the split. LMU will stay in Davis as they take on No. 12 UC Davis on Sunday at 11 a.m.
In the opener the Lions found themselves down 5-2 at the break and 7-2 in the third as the Lions would never get closer than 3-2 after senior Matt Reynolds scored with 4:01 remaining in the first. Senior Ben Easton scored a pair in the upset.
In the afternoon win, the Lions scored the game's first five goals as senior goalie Ian Elliott made 10 saves. On the game 11 different Lions scored including two by Reynolds.
