LOS ANGELES - LMU men’s water polo put together its most complete game of the season and they did it on Senior Day as the Lions earned a 10-6 win over 14th-ranked California Baptist on Saturday afternoon at the Burns Aquatics Center.

In a key match-up within the Western Water Polo Association, the Lions (10-13, 3-1) scored the first three goals of the game and never trailed to pick up the big WWPA victory. The Lancers (18-9, 2-3), who set the school record for wins in a season last night against Santa Clara, had their five-game win streak snapped.

“This was our most complete game in quite a while,” said Head Coach John Loughran. “We had great team defense, had solid goalie play and ran our 6-on-5 attack well. We started playing our entire bench last week and it really paid off today.”

The Lions finished the game 5-for-7 on the extra-man attack, including three of their first five goals to take a 5-1 lead.

The Lancers would fight back and would cut the lead to just one, 6-5, with 3:08 to play in the third quarter. However, it was short lived as Riley Smith and Neil LeVecke scored back-to-back goals to extend the lead back to three, 8-5.

Danny Arellano and Dayne Jagga would close out the scoring for the final margin. Jagga led the Lions with three goals and Arellano had three assists. Goalie Dominick Beaudine had 11 saves and four steals in the win.

LMU will travel to UC Davis on Thursday, Nov. 3 for a 6 pm start.
