LOS ANGELES - The No. 15-ranked LMU men's water polo team closed out regular season action with a 12-10 setback to No. 8 Long Beach State Thursday afternoon at the Burns Aquatics Center.

LMU (13-12) led 4-3 at the conclusion of the first period, but four consecutive goals by the 49ers (18-10) in the second period put the visitors in the lead, 7-4. Seth Coldron would score his first of two goals to send LMU into halftime trailing by just two.

Back-to-back goals midway through the third period trimmed the LBSU lead to just one, 8-7. But the 49ers would hold on down the stretch as the Lions got no closer than the two-goal spread final.

Emanuel Di Stasio led LMU with three goals. LMU's lone senior, John Mikuzis, was honored in a post game ceremony after his final appearance at the Burns Aquatics Center.

The Lions will now await seeding for the 2013 Western Water Polo Association Championships, hosted by UC Davis on Nov. 22-24.
