Season Concludes with WWPA Tournament Loss

LA JOLLA, Calif. – The final chapter of the 2017-18 has come to a close as men’s water polo fell to Fresno Pacific in the seventh-place game of the Western Water Polo Association Championships on Sunday morning. The Lions finish the season at 6-22 following the 11-4 loss.

LMU fell behind 5-0 after the first period, scoring their first goal with 5:48 to play in the second quarter from Alessio Brunochelli.

Following a 6-1 halftime score, Austin Clark scored his first goal of the day to open the second half. LMU trailed 10-2 in the fourth quarter before Matt Braun got on the board for the Lions.

The two teams traded off scoring the final goals with Austin Clark adding his second before the season came to an end.

The tournament continues throughout Sunday with the title game slated for a 1 p.m. start. At the conclusion of the championships, the 2017 WWPA All-Tournament team will be announced.
