LMU takes 3rd in NCAA Championship

Dec. 5, 2004

Stanford, CA - The first period opened with a goal by Princeton, but that would be the only time the Tigers would hold the lead against LMU. Lion's #14 Brian McShane scored the first goal with a spin lob landing in the back of the goal with 3:30 left in the first. #13 Endre Rex-Kiss once again had a great game, scoring his first of three with an assist from #6 Pat Reilly, ending the first up one goal.

The second quarter proved no different than the first, the Lions combined great defense and explosive offense to hold Princeton to only one goal while scoring one more. Pat Reilly put the Lions at a 3-2 lead with an outside lob shot from 5-meters.

During the third period, #7 Cutberto Hernandez drew an ejection which helped the Lions score another goal. Following Hernandez's offensive play, Rex-Kiss, on a fast break with Brian McShane and #4 Tyler Swanson, scored his 2nd goal of the game to widen the lead to 5-3. Princeton closed the third period with another goal to put pressure on the Lions.

The forth and final period of the game showed the pride and confidence the Lions had with a counter attack goal scored by Endre Rex-Kiss. Rex-Kiss ended his season with a record setting 83 goals, raising his career record to 193 goals, tying for third in all time career goals.

Along with the great offensive play came determined defensive action. Senior #3 Nick Oster created multiple ejections for the Lions to capitalize on. Goalie #1 Ian Elliot once again performed outstanding, stopping Princeton and setting up the Lions for their win.
