Five Plus Team Earn National Honors
Men's water polo named as one of top academic teams by ACWPC; five players earn individual honors.

LOS ANGELES -- The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) announced the 2011 Men's All-Academic Awards on Friday, and the LMU men's water polo team along with five individuals have earned accolades for the 2011 season. The Lions ranked 12th out of 27 teams honored for team GPA honors.
LMU claims a 3.090 GPA, which is one of 27 teams recognized by the ACWPC for Team Academic Honors. Earning individual honors for the Lions in 2011 are Charlie Horton, Edgaras Asajavicius, Kyle Testman, Matt Stipanovich, and Matt Venner.
The ACWPC awards three levels of national academic honors, with first-team earning Outstanding honors, second-team earning Superior honors and third-team earning Excellent honors. Outstanding honors are given to players who earned a GPA between 3.71-4.00, with Superior honors going to 3.41-3.70 and Excellent going to 3.20-3.40.
Earning first-team honors for the Lions were Horton and Asajavicius. Testman and Stipanovich earned Superior honors while Venner claimed Excellent honors.
