LOS ANGELES --LMU men's water polo continues to add to its incoming class for the 2014 season as Head Coach John Loughran announced that John LeVecke (Mater Dei High School) and Zach Gleason (Mission Viejo High School) will join the program this August.
Gleason, a 6-2, 195-pound two-meter defender at Mission Viejo, earned back-to-back First-Team All-League honors while LeVecke helped Mater Dei to a 2012 Division I CIF Championship.
"We are excited to have both John and Zach coming to LMU and joining our program," said Loughran. "Both of them come from solid high school programs and both will fit well with the traditions of our program."
Gleason entered his senior season coming off a season in which he scored 60 goals with 10 assists and 41 steals to earn First-Team All-Seaview honors. He also earned Second-Team All-CIF honors, helping his team to a co-league title and a trip to the CIF quarterfinals.
He also played for SET Water Polo Club 18U Team in 2013 and the SET 16U Team in 2012. The team went the Cal Cup State Finals and placed third in the Junior Olympic Qualifiers in 2013. In 2012, the team won the US Club Championship.
LeVecke was part of Mater Dei's CIF Championship team while also playing with the United Water Polo Club the last two years. With United, he helped the team to the 2013 18U Junior Olympic title. He also was a member of the Mater Dei swim team and played for the Regency Water Polo Club as a freshman and sophomore.
