Lions Announce 2017 Schedule
Men’s Water Polo to Face Another Loaded Schedule.
LMU men’s water polo will host ten home games in the 2017 season, with the release of the upcoming fall schedule. The season will begin Sept. 2 UCSD Triton Invitational, LMU’s home opener will be Sept. 22 at during the So Cal Tournament.
As the Lions have done almost every year, they will travel to La Jolla California to open the season at the loaded UC San Diego Triton Invitational on Sept. 2. LMU will then head up the coast to Pepperdine for the Conference Challenge Cup where they take on Pepperdine and UC Irvine Sept. 9. Still on the road, LMU will start Western Water Polo Association conference play at Fresno Pacific Sept. 16.
LMU opens the season at the Burns Center for So Cal Tournament Sept. 22-24. A quick road trip takes team to UC San Diego for a single game on Sept. 27. A three-game home stand will follow with non-conference opponents Whitter (Sept. 30) and Iona (Oct. 5) before the Lions return to conference play against UCSD (Oct. 6).
WWPA opponent Air Force will host the following game on Oct. 13. The Lions will continue the road stretch at The Rodeo tournament hosted by Santa Clara (Oct. 20-22). The last road game of the season takes the Lions to Cal Baptist on October 26.
A final four game home stand will conclude the Lions regular season beginning with WWPA opponent Santa Clara (Oct. 28). UC Davis (Nov. 2) and Concordia (Nov. 4) will finish the Lions’ WWPA play. Senior day, Nov. 8, will be against non-conference foe Long Beach State.
The 2017 WWPA Championships will be held at UC San Diego on Nov. 17-19. The winner earns the automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
