LOS ANGELES -- The 2012 LMU men's water polo season begins on Saturday when the Lions head to Whittier to start the season in Western Water Polo Association action with a roster that includes six redshirt seniors and a bunch of youth.

Head Coach John Loughran sat down for the Lions' 2012 Season Preview on Lions' All-Access is excited for the new season.

"We have a great mix of leadership from our fifth-year seniors and talented young players who are out to proof they can make a difference at this level," said Loughran, who enters his 16th season at the helm of the Lions. "They have been worrying very hard these last couple of weeks and have really started to come together as a group. If we keep working like we have been, we should be able to reach our goals as a program."

The Lions enter the 2012 season ranked 10th nationally in the preseason poll and picked by the WWPA coaches to win the league.

The Lions take on Whittier at 9 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 1 and then return home for the annual Alumni game at the Burns Recreation Center at 2 p.m.
