LOS ANGELES -- Junior John Mikuzis has been named the KAP7 Western Water Polo Association Player of the Week for Oct. 3 after leading the Lions to a ninth-place finish at the 2012 SoCal Tournament last weekend. The Lions went on to defeat No. 9 Long Beach State, 13-10, in the ninth place game, to finish the weekend at 3-1. Mikuis led the Lions to three straight wins, scoring nine of his 11 goals in that stretch. He would finish the week as a stat-stuffer, scoring 11 goals with four assists, 14 kickouts drawn, four steals and four field blocks. The Lions earned a pair of WWPA wins to improve to 5-1 against conference foes and 7-6 overall.
