Lions to Honor Four on Senior Day

LOS ANGELES - The 20th-ranked LMU men's water polo team will host 14th-ranked California Baptist in a key Western Water Polo Association match-up on Saturday, October 29 at the Burns Aquatics Center. The game will also be senior day as they will honor Class of 2017 members Jon Beck, Eric Hernandez, Cory McGee and Riley Smith. Game time is noon.

The LMU Sports Network caught-up with the four members of the Class of 2017. They talked about their time with the Lions and reflected on the strength of the program, the bonds created in and out of the pool.

Beck is the lone senior and the other three are redshirt juniors who will all graduate this spring. Beck, a captain on this year's squad, leads all Lions having played in 79 games entering the week.

Beck has also become one of the leaders this season in the pool, ranking third on the team in goals with 36 and third on the team in points with 50, adding 14 assists. He also has 13 drawn ejections and 16 steals. McGee has added 24 goals to his resume this season. Beck and McGee have 69 and 65 career goals, respectively.

Smith is having one of his best seasons, setting career-highs in all the statistical categories. He has 17 goals and 13 assists in playing all 22 games so far this season. He is fifth on the team with 22 steals and has added five field blocks, second on the team.

As for the match-up, the Lancers they are 17-8 on the season and on pace to set the program record for wins in a season. In addition, they have the highest ranking in program history at No. 14. Brent Teraoka leads the WWPA in goals with 57 and points with 74. CUB's Tanner Shore leads the league with 55 steals and Joseph Moorman's 287 saves is also the best in the WWPA.

As for the Lions, sophomore Daniel Arellano continues to pace the league with 57 assists, setting the all-time LMU record in the process. He is third in the WWPA with 72 points. Fellow sophomore Dayne Jagga is second in the WWPA and tops among the Lions with 53 goals.
