LOS ANGELES -- Of the 24-man roster for the LMU men's water polo team, 20 are underclassmen and the Lions have come to rely heavily on the young class. Freshman Jon Beck is one of three freshman who starts for the Lions and in the last month, he is starting to get the hang of things.

Beck, who has played every game this season, didn't score a goal with just three steals in the first month of the season (13 games). Then the lightbulb went off. Beck has scored 11 goals with seven steals and four shot blocks since then.

The freshman Beck sat down with the LMU Sports Network to talk about his freshman season and his family ties to LMU and water polo. His sister, Mackenzie Beck plays for the women's water polo team and his father is an alum.

The Lions (11-12, 1-3) host California Baptist (14-13, 0-4) at the Burns Aquatics Center in their final conference game on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 1 pm. It will be followed by the Alumni Game at 3 pm. The game will feature the top-two goal scorers in the Western Water Polo Association in LMU's sophomore Milutin Mitrovic and CBU's Matt Puig. Both have 57 goals heading into the week.

LMU will complete the regular season at home when they face Long Beach State on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 3 pm.
