Mitrovic Leads Honors
Sophomore earns first-team All-WWPA honors while freshman Cory McGee claims Newcomer of the Year.

LOS ANGELES -- The Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) announced its annual end of the season awards on Tuesday and sophomore Milutin Mitrovic was named First-Team All-WWPA for the second consecutive season and freshman Cory McGee was named WWPA Newcomer of the Year.
McGee along with junior Joe Ferretti were named honorable mention All-WWPA while redshirt freshman goalie Kirk Wilenius was named second-team All-WWPA. It is the third straight year a Lion has claimed Newcomer of the Year honors, joining Mitrovic (2012) and Ferretti (2011).
LMU has had five Newcomer of the Year winners since 2007. Freshman Matt Cuozzo joined McGee as a 2013 WWPA All-Freshman selection.
Mitrovic led the Lions 72 goals as a freshman and was once again the team-leader with 62 this season. He enters the WWPA Championships with 134 career goals, 13th all-time in LMU history. He added a team-best 36 assists, giving him 58 in his career, ranked tied for 12th all-time.
McGee finished tied with Ferretti with 20 goals on the season. They also tied for second on the team behind Mitrovic with 29 steals. Mitrovic had 33. Cuozzo had 12 goals with eight assists and 11 steals on the season.
Wilenius stepped into the starting role for the Lions and finished with 184 saves on the season.
The Lions will then head to the 2013 WWPA Championships hosted by UC Davis. LMU will open with Air Force on Friday, Nov. 22 at 12:15.
