Phillips Joins Women's Basketball Staff

April Phillips, who made three NCAA Tournament appearances as a member of the Xavier Musketeers, played professionally overseas and has had coaching stints at Seton Hall, University of New Haven and Georgia Tech, has been named an assistant coach on the LMU women's basketball staff, Head Coach Charity Elliott announced Wednesday.

For more than 30 minutes, the eighth-seeded LMU women's basketball team hung with top-seed Gonzaga Friday afternoon in the 2015 West Coast Conference Championships quarterfinal match-up. But with eight minutes remaining, the Zags used a full court press to kickstart a 10-0 run that would allow them to pull away for a 70-50 win over the Lions.

Olivia Lucero sank one of two free throws with 11 seconds remaining and a final three point attempt by Pepperdine rimmed out as the LMU women's basketball team hung on for a 68-67 win over their rival Waves in the 8/9 opening round game of the 2015 West Coast Conference Championship Thursday at the Orleans Arena.
