Amanda DeCoud begins her senior season with the Lions... the WCC Defensive Player of the Year as a junior... team captain... a hard working, exciting point guard... great court vision and has a good feel for the game... a scoring threat... tremendous instinct... excellent ball handler... has improved her consistency, aggressiveness and confidence... good athleticism.
In her third season as a Lion, Amanda started 28 of 31 games averaging 32.3 minutes per game... the third leading scorer on the team, she averaged 9.0 points and recorded 2.9 rebounds per game... selected WCC Defensive Player of the Year and WCC Honorable Mention... led the team in assists with 102... led the team in steals with 78 allowing her to move into the LMU single season top 10, and number nine in the LMU career top 10 in steals with 165... had 12 double digit scoring games, 10 games with at least four steals, and 14 games with at least four assists... had a strong start to the season with 12 points against Stanford... followed up that with another outstanding performance, matching her career high with 18 points against Toledo... was active in the win against Fresno State, recording five assists, four steals, to go along with nine points and four rebounds... matched her career-high with six steals against Santa Clara... leads the WCC in steals in WCC games... was named the WCC co-Player of the Week (Feb.26) in the final weekend of the regular season averaging 14.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.5 steal per game, while leading the Lions to secure the number three seed in the WCC Tournament... also selected to the Xavier Invitational All-Tournament Team... Director's List Spring of 2007...
Started at point guard in the first five games of the season, but was phenomenal coming off the bench in the final 24 games of the season...shattered her career-high with 17 points on 8-for-10 shooting against UC Santa Barbara, and broke it again with 18 points at San Diego... matched her career-high with 18 points against Portland... named MVP of the Blue Sky Restaurant Group Classic... added eight points against Charlotte... an athletic guard, she can drive the basket and draw fouls...fourth on the team in free throw attempts...attempted 12 free throws against Portland... averaged 6.9 points per game in WCC games... led the team with 49 steals and 78 assists...fifth in the WCC in steals per game and ninth in assists per game... added a career-high seven assists in the win over Santa Clara... had an assist or a steal in all but two games this season... played at least 20 minutes in 23 games... was outstanding during a nine game stretch in the middle of the year (12/11/05-1/12/06), with five double digit scoring games, averaging 11.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.9 steals per game... Lions were 8-1 during that nine game stretch.
DeCoud had a strong freshman season, starting 18 of the 29 games in which she played... Averaged 19.9 minutes of action at the point guard spot... scored a career-high 11 points to lead LMU to a win over UC Santa Barbara (1/2/05)... was 5-for-6 from the field in a season-high 32 minutes of action... also played 32 minutes against USC (12/5/05), and Santa Clara (2/19/05)... dished out a season-high five assists at Cal State Fullerton (11/30/04) and averaged 1.7 assists per game... a quick defender, she was third on the team in steals, and had six thefts vs. Cal State Northridge (12/2/04)... grabbed a season-high seven rebounds at Cal State Fullerton (11/30/04) and averaged 2.0 boards per game... two double-digit scoring games... scored 10 points, including six free throws, against Saint Mary's (2/17/05).
A 2004 graduate of J.W. North High School in Riverside, CA... was a first-team All-Riverside County, first-team All-CIF and All-Ivy League pick as a junior and senior... averaged 17.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 4.5 steals as a senior... her junior squad took the Ivy League Championship and made it to the CIF Semifinal game... She averaged 14 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.3 steals and 4.1 assists per game as a junior... As a sophomore, she was second-team All-Riverside County and first-team All-Ivy League and All-CIF... four year letterwinner, and three year captain... two-time Woodbridge Tournament MVP... two-time Ayala Best in the West All-Tournament team... named to the All-Star Girls Report Top 250... prep coach was Brian Jones.
Amanda Nicole DeCoud was born Feb. 16, 1986 in Upland, CA... daughter of Kathy DeCoud and Kevin and Kasey DeCoud... has three sisters, Lauren, Erika and Alexis, and one brother, Austin... was also recruited by Pepperdine, Santa Clara and Gonzaga... was a member of the Honor Roll at John W. North HS... chose LMU for the campus, location and athletics program... volunteered with Sheriff's Gift of Love... competed against former LMU teammates Amanda Patton and Rachael and Bianca Ziemann in high school... a liberal studies major.
