Joe Gonzalez is in his ninth year at LMU as a certified athletic trainer. He is the primary athletic trainer for the women's basketball, men's soccer, women's tennis, and golf programs.
Gonzalez has spent 12 of the last 17 years at LMU, having earned his Bachelor's degree in Biology from the university in 1997. Following graduation, he worked for two years in the physical therapy department at The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital in Murray, Utah. He returned to Los Angeles in 2000 to work at the USC University Hospital's Center for Athletic Medicine, which provided certified athletic trainers to local high schools.
In 2002, Gonzalez returned to his alma mater as an assistant athletic trainer in the athletics department. He has since earned his Master's degree in Counseling from LMU, graduating in May 2009.
A native of Pico Rivera, California, Gonzalez is certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. In his spare time, Gonzalez enjoys mountain biking, creating music, and photography. He and his wife, Heather, reside in Westchester.
