Head Coach Charity Elliott is excited to announce the reorganization of her staff as well as a new face on the sidelines for the upcoming 2013-14 season.
Kiva Herman, a former University of San Diego standout, begins her second season as an assistant coach for the LMU women's basketball team in 2014-15.
"I'm so happy to announce that Kiva will be joining our staff as an assistant coach," said Elliott. "Her energy, passion and excitement for coaching and impacting young people was palpable from our first phone conversation and I am so excited for her to get started."
Herman was a member of the Torero squad from 2005-09, earning first team All-West Coast Conference and team MVP honors her senior season. She was also named to the WCC All-Tournament team in 2009 after leading USD to the championship game.
Upon graduation from USD in May 2009 with a degree in communications studies, Herman played professionally for Canti Riva Basket in Chiasso, Switzerland (2009-10), and Olivais Futebol Clube in Coinbra, Portugal (2010-11). She joined the coaching ranks in 2011 as an assistant coach at Dixie State College where her primary duties included recruiting, travel coordination, on-court player development and scouting. Most recently, Herman served as the director of operations/video coordinator at UC Irvine.
"Kiva was a tremendous player for USD and has gained experience playing internationally as well as in her last couple of years as an assistant and DOBO on the west coast," Elliott added.
