LOS ANGELES – Loyola Marymount women’s basketball head coach Charity Elliott has agreed to a three-year contract extension through the 2020-21 season. Elliott is currently in her sixth season with the Lions, and under her leadership the team began this season 7-0, marking LMU’s best start to a season since 2003-04 (8-0). Her Lions currently stand at 10-3 overall and 2-0 in WCC play on the season. LMU has the best overall record among all WCC women’s teams so far in 2017-18.
“Charity has worked diligently to make the women’s basketball team competitive in the WCC,” LMU Director of Athletics Dr. William Husak said. “That, added to the emphasis she has placed on academics, personal development and support from those people who value a women’s athletic experience warrants an extension. Charity is a LMU fit, and the future is extraordinarily bright for our women’s basketball program.”
“I want to thank President Snyder, Dr. Bove and Dr. Husak for their confidence and continued support of our staff and this program,” Elliott said. “We believe we have laid a tremendous foundation for success and are excited to continue the work that we have begun.”
Elliott and the Lions travel to Santa Clara for the team’s third WCC matchup of the season on Thursday, Jan. 4 at 7 p.m.
