Turner Named WCC Player of the Week
Senior guard/forward led Lions to two road victories in conference play.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Senior Mary Turner was named the co-WCC Player of the Week, the conference office announced today. The guard/forward from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. averaged 15.5 points and 6.0 rebounds to lead the Lions to two road wins to open conference play.
Turner led the Lions in scoring both games with 16 points against San Francisco and 15 points against San Diego. She led the team with eight rebounds against USF, and added six assists, four steals and a block for the weekend.
She had several key baskets during LMU's second half comeback against the Dons. She hit a three pointer to give LMU its first lead of the second half, 32-31. After USF regained the lead, she had back-to-back baskets to give LMU the lead for good. She hit four free throws in the final minutes to secure the close 62-56 LMU victory.
She shot 50% from three point range (5-for-10) and 47.8% from the field overall (11-for-23).
This is the first career honor for Turner, and the first for LMU this season. Turner shared the award with Gonzaga's Ashley Burke, who averaged 16.0 points and 6.0 rebounds to lead the Zags to two home wins in the opening weekend of conference play. The two players will face off this Thusrday when Turner and the Lions host Burke and the Bulldogs at Gersten Pavilion at 7:00pm.
