LMU women's basketball aims to raise $2,014 in the fight against cancer.
Feb. 4, 2014
LOS ANGELES - LMU women's basketball has once again teamed with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and the Play4Kay initiative in an effort to raise breast cancer awareness and funds for research on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.
The Lions' annual Play4Kay game is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. against West Coast Conference member Pacific. In addition to donning their traditional pink uniforms for the game, the Lions have joined forces with 24 fellow NCAA Division I schools in committing to raise $2,014 each. The goal: to donate a total of $50,000 towards the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
In that effort, LMU has a donation page set up through the Play4Kay website.
Additional fundraising efforts will include a raffle of LMU spirit packs (full of LMU Athletics' goodies) at both the Thursday, Feb. 13 game versus Saint Mary's and on Saturday versus Pacific. On Saturday, the Lions will also hold a silent auction in the lobby of Gersten Pavilion during their game. Items will include four courtside seats for Senior Night, an LMU basketball signed by the entire 2013-14 team, two tickets to the team's end-of-the-year banquet, a Pink jersey singed by the 2013-14 team, a ball autographed by former Duke standout and current LA Sparks player Lindsey Harding, and more!
Join the Lions today in the fight against cancer!
