Women's Hoops Take on USF Today
Feb. 28, 2002 The Loyola Marymount University women's basketball team will take on the University of San Francisco in the first round of the West Coast Conference Tournament, which begins today. The Dons and the Lions will do battle at 2 p.m. in San Diego. The two teams split the regular season match-up, with both winning on their home floor. The Lions opened up conference play on Jan. 11 with a 76-58 win against the Dons. Senior Bryn Britton, who will not play in today's match-up due to an injured knee, scored 25 points on 9-for-10 shooting. Junior Kate Murray had 20 points and 10 rebounds, while sophomore Adrianne Slaughter had 12 points, six rebounds, seven blocks and five assists. The rematch again went to the home team, as the Dons used a 10-point second half for the 71-62 win. Playing without Mary Turner, due to a torn ACL suffered in the previous game at Saint Mary's, the Lions were paced by Britton with 22 and Murray with 13. The Lions would shot just 33 percent in the second half, while the Dons hit 50 percent. San Francisco enters the game as the number four seed with a 17-10 overall record and 9-5 in the WCC. LMU is 15-12 and 7-7 in conference. Here is how they match-up.
