LOS ANGELES - For the second time in two seasons the LMU women's basketball team will open West Coast Conference Championship play against the San Francisco Dons. The No. 8 seeded Dons ran away with an 80-48 win over No. 9 seed Pepperdine in Wednesday's tournament opener.

The Lions (12-17, 6-10 WCC) and Dons (12-18, 4-12 WCC) tip off at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas Thursday at 12:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on BYUtv (DirectTV Channel 374 and Dish Channel 9403) and webstreamed at BYUtv.org and via the WCC Digital Network.

2013 marks the 32nd year of the WCC Women's Basketball Tournament and the fifth straight year that the championships are being held at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas... the #5 seed Lions face #8 San Francisco... LMU has faced the Dons six times in WCC tournament play, including last year when the Lions earned a 66-60 win in the opening-round game... during the regular-season, LMU swept the home-and-home series against San Francisco... LMU is 12-17 all-time at the WCC Championship... the Lions' last tournament win was the 2012 first-round victory over San Francisco... the Lions have advanced to the championship game three times, winning the WCC title in 2004 with a 61-58 final against Gonzaga.
