- The fifth seeded Lions earned a huge 75-53 win over eighth seeded San Francisco in the second round of the 2013 WCC Championship Thursday, setting up a quarterfinals meeting between LMU and the fourth seeded BYU Cougars. Tip off is set for Friday, March 8 at noon at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, NV. The game will be broadcast live on BYUtv (DirectTV Channel 374 and Dish Channel 9403) and webstreamed at BYUtv.org and via the WCC Digital Network.

Oh, What A Night
The stars aligned on Thursday night, senior night, in Gersten Pavilion. Alex Cowling's final point, a free throw with 59 seconds remaining, was her 21st points of the night, giving her 2,166 career points and eclipsing the WCC record of 2,165 set by Gonzaga's Heather Bowman (2006-10). The Lion team, meanwhile, allowed BYU just 16 second-half points on its way to a 68-55 victory.
TOURNAMENT QUICK HITS
2013 marks the 32nd year of the WCC Women's Basketball Tournament and the fifth straight year that the championships are being held at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas... the #5 seed Lions won their second-round opener, 75-53, over the #8 seed San Francisco Dons... The win gave LMU a three-game sweep of the Dons this season... the Lions also earned that same sweep one year ago... LMU is 13-17 all-time at the WCC Championship... this marks the first WCC Championship meeting between LMU and BYU... this is also the first time the Lions have reached the quarterfinals since 2010... the Lions have advanced to the championship game three times, winning the WCC title in 2004 with a 61-58 final against Gonzaga
