LOS ANGELES - In partnership with the Family of Schools program, the LMU women's basketball team made its second visit of the year to Kentwood Elementary School last month.
The Lions volunteered their time in a fourth-grade classroom, talking with the students about life skills including goal setting and reaching success. LMU student-athletes told stories about the challenges they rose to overcome and placed an emphasis on studying, getting good grades, good sportsmanship and hard work in all areas of life.
Following the classroom presentation, the activities moved outside where the Lions led the class through numerous basketball drills and competitions. Through demonstration and instruction, the Lions constantly emphasized positive attitude and hard work.
"Anytime we can connect with our community, and particularly with the family of schools, we are thrilled to do it!" said LMU Head Coach Charity Elliott. "Our players had a great time talking with these kids and we look forward to continuing our partnership with the Family of Schools."
