Lions Visit Opera House, Climb Bridge in Final Day in Sydney
May 13, 2005 SYDNEY, Australia - The LMU women's basketball team started its fourth day in Sydney with a tour of one of Australia's most famous landmarks- the Sydney Opera House. The Lions finished their day by climbing another Sydney landmark- the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
The Lions learned the history of the Sydney Opera House in a guided tour around the venue. They were able to go inside the concert hall and the opera house while learning about the extraordinary history and architecture the Opera House.
After a brief break for lunch, the Lions geared up for their toughest physical and mental challenge of the trip- climbing 134 meters above sea level on the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The group was divided up into two groups- one group with all of the players, and another group with the staff. Whether it was climbing the ladders in between lanes of traffic on the bridge, or peering over the side of the bridge to see all of Sydney, the journal was a magnificent one. Everyone wore special suits and hooked on to the guard line that went along the route. Headsets allowed everyone to hear the guide as he gave us a lesson on the Harbour Bridge and the city of Sydney. The team gathered for dinner at a restaurant in The Rocks, and enjoyed its final night in Sydney.
