LOS ANGELES - Five new faces have joined the LMU women’s basketball roster beginning in 2016-17 and the LMU Sports Network, along with host and senior guard Shelbi Aimonetti, is giving fans an inside look at the new players.
The series concludes with the second of two junior transfers – Gabby Green. The 6-2 guard was ranked among ESPN HoopsGurlz top 15 players nationally at the conclusion of her prep career in 2013-14, was a USA Basketball U16, U17 and U19 team member and a two-year standout at Cal before making the move to LMU this summer.
As a freshman with the Golden Bears in 2014-15, Green averaged 6.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. She was one of three players to start all 34 games and was selected to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team. As a sophomore in 2015-16, she made 26 starts and appeared in 27 of 32 games, averaging 5.4 points and 4.9 rebounds. She was second on the team with 5.0 assists per game and led Golden Bears with 71 steals, earning Pac-12 Honorable Mention All-Defensive Team.
Green prepped at Saint Mary's College High School where she was was ranked No. 12 overall by ESPN HoopGurlz as the No. 4 winger in the country. She was also ranked in the Top 10 nationally by All Star Girls Basketball Report (No. 5), Blue Star Basketball (No. 5) and Full Court Press (No. 10). She was the No. 1 guard prospect by Prospect Nation and concluded her prep career as a 2014 McDonald's All-American, a Parade Magazine All-American First Team selection, Sporting News Preseason All-American First Team selection, a two-time MaxPreps All-American and a WBCA All-American First Team pick.
Green led Saint Mary's College High School to a 114-26 record in her career and averaged 14.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.4 blocks and 4.0 steals per game in 2013-14. She finished with a prep average of 13.6 points, 6.5 rebounds 4.2 assists and 3.8 steals per game over her career. An All-State, Central Coast All-League, Contra Costa Times All-Area and San Francisco Chronicle All-Metro Team selection, Green also played AAU with the California Storm - Team Taurasi.
Green was a gold medalist with the 2013 USA Basketball U19 World Championship team that in Lithuania went 9-0. She also participated in the USA Basketball U16 National Team trials in 2011 and the U17 World Championship team trials, totaling 11 appearances in international competition for USA Basketball.
