LOS ANGELES - LMU women's basketball Head Coach Charity Elliott is among a select group to be honored at the Third Annual Coastal Above & Beyond Awards Gala October 5 at Islands Hotel in Newport Beach.

Angel Light Academy and its Leadership Training Institute annually honor local citizens who have proven excellence in community leadership and service, dibbling them "Angels on Earth for Their Services."

The event was established in 2009 as a grassroots recognition program for the "doers" of our local communities.

"I am honored to have been nominated and to have received the Above and Beyond award for excellence in community leadership and service," said Elliott. "I was nominated by a former player, Lindsay Castle, who I coached at Cal Baptist quite a while ago so this is extremely meaningful to me.

"Lindsay was a great player and an even better player," Elliott continued. "For her to nominate me after all these years means the world to me. I've said this many times, but I've got the best job in America. Watching these young ladies grow and develop is one of the greatest blessings of my life."
